COVID-19 ( Coronavirus) Update & Policies

To; My valued patients

I hope this letter finds you healthy and well. This has been quite the experience, and I have no doubt that this will be a time that none of us will forget.

At this moment in time, dismissing any tragic news, I have chosen May 4th as our day to re-open. With that being said, we will continue to take precautions for everyone’s well-being. Astoria Dentistry LLC will continue to practice social distancing as the situation continues to improve.

Precautions will include:

  • Limiting the amount of clientele we have in the office at any moment in time.

  • Please call from your car, letting us know that you have arrived so we can prepare for your arrival.

  • We will be recording temperatures at our front door before receiving anyone into the office.

  • We ask that you present to your appointment alone. If you require transportation, we ask that your driver remains in the vehicle once you have dropped off and cleared for treatment.

  • We will ask about your immediate history in concern to any illness exposure and travel to high-risk areas.

In addition to using universal precautions, we will be instituting the use of enhanced personal protective equipment, a.k.a. "PPE". For those of you who don’t know, this equipment can be, for lack of a better way to say it, “suffocating”. In light of this, the setting of the thermostat in the office will be lower than usual. I ask that you dress warmly for your appointment or at least bring a sweater. We will continue to provide blankets when requested. Please do not be alarmed by the amount of PPE you see around the office. It is for your protection.

We have invested in mouth props that have specialized suction units attached, which reduce the amount of aerosol produced during procedures. They will be used during both hygiene and dental procedures, which require water sprays—all of this in the name of keeping a healthy environment for both staff and patients.

If you have any questions or concerns about these new policies, I am more than happy to field them. Please do not hesitate to call or email. I will do my best to reply expeditiously.

I thank you all so much for your patience and your calls checking on my family and me. It truly touched my heart that so many of you called and left messages. I can’t wait to see you!!!!!

Cheers,

Didier Guillaume, DMD
